Hi, I'm Jakub Škůrek.

_^ That's me :)_

I write documentation and build the platforms it runs on.

For close to a decade I've worked as a technical writer who refuses to stay on the writing side of the fence. Over the years, I've naturally gravitated more towards documentation engineering and docs-as-code workflows. In practice, that means owning and writing developer content and the platform it's served on: the rendering pipeline, the surrounding infrastructure, and lately AI automation. As agentic traffic increases, AI accessibility has quickly established itself as a core part of my work. I share some insights about that and similar topics on my [blog](https://skurekjakub.dev/blog).

Away from the keyboard I live in the Czech Republic, learning languages for fun, hiking, cycling, and reading fantasy when the backlog allows.

## The path here

I started at Kentico Software in 2016 as a technical writer on CMS documentation: developer guides for core APIs, the ORM framework, and customization scenarios, plus a reusable library of code examples for the product. Over the years, I progressively transitioned to a senior role and gained more responsibilities, such as mentoring colleagues, onboarding new hires, and guiding overall customer education strategy.

In 2022, after a forced transition from Confluence server, I architected and launched the company's internal documentation platform, and I've owned it since: a Git-based docs-as-code workflow for the whole customer education division, with CI/CD and infrastructure on Azure DevOps, Bicep, and Azure. The current iteration runs on Next.js and provides an optimized browsing experience to both human and machine visitors.

Since 2025 the job has been increasingly agentic, presenting me with many opportunities to experiment with AI-augmented workflows. Among a few other side projects, I created a TypeScript/Node.js AI orchestration platform that turns issue-triggered tasks into autonomous multi-stage agent workflows, with persistent cross-session agent memory and post-task self-improvement pipelines that refine the agents from their own prior runs.
